Eartaste is a daily nibble of new music. There was a time when you could hear new music by Sly And The Family Stone played alongside Glen Campbell, The Grassroots, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, The Monkees, Santana and Desmond Dekker & The Aces. That could not happen for a new artist today - the entire music business has become fragmented and there is no longer a place where you can just hear all types and colors of music. We hope Eartaste will be that place for people who love excellence in all types of music. The second purpose of Eartaste is the plain fact that I hear industry people complaining day in and day out about how sales of recordings are going down in the United States. I watch the Billboard Charts, and sense two things: not enough new music is being exposed to a mass audience, and there is not enough variety in the music that is being exposed to cause people to be excited enough to plunk down a few bucks for music. I know people still love music - that's a non-issue. The question is - how do they know what is out there worth buying? It used to be the radio was a source of new and exciting music. No longer. Radio is simply too specialized. That's where the internet comes in. Here we can play experimental, rock, pop, r&b, ska, country, and anything else that tastes good right next to each other.

Who knows? We may even convince some radio programmers to loosen up again!
